Caring for your cake
A few simple things to keep your cake looking and tasting its best, from the moment it leaves our kitchen to the moment it's served.
Carry from the bottom
Always lift and carry the cake by the base of the box, never by the sides or lid.
Keep it level
Level at all times: in the car, in storage, and on the table. A flat car floor or boot is best.
Refrigerate in the box
Keep the cake refrigerated in its box until a few hours before serving.
Out 1-3 hours before
Remove from the fridge 1-3 hours before serving so the buttercream softens and the flavour comes through.
Away from heat and sun
Keep out of direct sunlight, heat, and moisture. Serve in a room at 73°F (23°C) or below — important in a Houston summer.
Remove decorations before cutting
Take out any dowels, supports, toppers, and non-edible decorations before you cut and serve.
Store leftovers airtight
Keep any leftover cake in an airtight container in the fridge. Best enjoyed within a few days.
Tiered cakes
Larger tiered cakes are set up on site and shouldn't be moved once placed. Smaller tiered cakes can travel assembled — keep them level and cool. A printed cutting guide is included with every tiered cake.
A note on fresh flowers
If your cake is finished with fresh flowers, please remove them before cutting. Fresh flowers are not a food product and may carry pesticides or other residues.
Pooja's Patisserie is not responsible for any damage to your cake or desserts after pickup or once setup is complete.
